A great write-up for using the amazon-ecs gem.

I’ve been using it for a personal “book discovery” project of mine, http://wajapi.com, and one of the things I liked about it was how easy it was to get results for various regions. My site even supports Japanese book results … (ehem, it doesn’t have any Japanese users though).

Check out the Google Books API as well, it seems to be very promising.

Hello, thanks for posting this! I checked out your example form and I see you wrote a lot of custom validation rules (you obviously know your stuff!). Anyway you can show how to write a custom validation rule for a textarea, that prevents any url’s (www or http://) from being input? I’m using bassistance.de plugin. Thanks for your time!

I think the simplest way to strip tags would be very similar to how you do it, something like: jQuery(‘

’).html(html).text() . This is the opposite of what I use to escape html characters in text: jQuery(‘

’).text(notHtml).html() . A string like ‘a b’ run through the first one would give ‘a b’, while the second would give ‘a <b>b</b>’.
